01-15-04 : Hawks 2004 Program Snap
Shot . . . . .
Hawks
International would like to wish all our supporters a Happy
New Year. We have some great programs for 2004 which will be
published in the coming weeks so stay tune.
We wish to
also thank our Hawks die hard supporters for all the support
in 2003. Looking back this was a banner year for us! So just
what we accomplished in 2003....
Launch of
Hawks 1st Friday's- This was an absolute success, the first
Friday of every month in Cafe Omar Brooklyn, New York we
featured different themes, there were comments equating the
atmosphere of the "fete" to "Tilden Ballroom
in the 80's." The memorable Iron Clash between Bench
Warmers & Rhythm Masters was one for the books. Look out
for "De Iron Fete 2" in 2004.
Project
Under-wing- Hawks International awarded two college
scholarships to aspiring college juniors majoring in
Political Science.
Splendor of
Egypt- Hawks International Boycotted the Labor Day
Celebration in Brooklyn 2002. In 2003, we decided to bring
back out our presentation if and only if we saw a hint of a
change in the semantics of the Labor Day Parade. With the
changing of the guard at West Indian American Day Parade
Organization, there was some progress on their behalf to
support the MAS bands in there efforts. Hence Hawks
International captured Band of the Year 2003 not losing a
step as one masquerader put it. Look out for our 2004
presentation.
Halloween
Mask Party- This year Hawks teamed up with Island Mix (The
Internet Folks) to host what turned out to be the beginnings
of an annual event.
We capped
off the year with our annual Thanksgiving Homeless
dinner...however we were not so lucky as our children's
Christmas party got snowed out.
We have
some great things in store for 2004 Stay tuned and remember
to "Dare to forge the future"
Dare
to forge the future . . . make the difference.
